Ryan Braun

Major League Baseball is expected to suspend as many as 20 players, including former Most Valuable Player Award winners Ryan Braun and Alex  Rodriguez, sometime after next week's All-Star break, for their connection to a Biogenesis clinic, and their refusal to be forthcoming, according to a report on Tuesday by ESPN.

Reports of Major League Baseball wanting to suspend the players first surfaced in early June, before Biogenesis director Tony Bosch was expected to meet with officials.

The report says 100-game suspensions are being considered even though most of the players, including Braun or Rodriguez, have never served a first 50-game suspension. The report says that the argument being made is that lying is viewed as the second offense.

Meanwhile, the report also says that Braun, who has repeatedly denied using performance-enhancing drugs, refused to answer questions during a recent meeting with Major League Baseball, and that Rodriguez will meet with MLB officials within a week.
