The battle for Mark Ingram's snaps in the first 4 weeks just saw one contestant voted off the training camp island.

Veteran running back Terrance West was released by the New Orleans Saints today, according to ESPN NFL insider Mike Triplett.

West, 27, spent the last 3 seasons with the Baltimore Ravens before signing with the Saints last offseason.

With a deep depth chart at running back, West's performance in camp and preseason action has not elevated him on the depth chart ahead of rookie Boston Scott, Jonathan Williams, Shane Vereen or Trey Edmunds.

Ingram is suspended for the first 4 games of the regular season, putting a bigger spotlight on whoever shares the bulk of running back duties with Alvin Kamara during weeks 1-4.
