Kat Terrell of The Times-Picayune is reporting New Orleans Saints linebacker Dannell Ellerbe has restructured his contract.

It is unknown at this time how the contract was altered, but it doesn't come as a surprise. He's set to count $5.9 million against the 2016 cap. After missing 10 games last year to due injury, it was highly unlikely he'd play with that cap hit this season.

Ellerbe signed a 3 year deal with the Saints last offseason after being traded to the team from Miami, where he also dealt with various injury issues, playing in only 1 game in 2014.

When he was on the field in 2015, he played well, giving New Orleans struggling defense a much needed boost.

Monday, the Saints released linebackers Ramon Humber and David Hawthorne.
