Just three games into the 2018 baseball season, Andy Cannizaro is out as the head coach at Mississippi State, according to a report by David Murphy as 247sports.com.

Murphy's report says the firing is "with cause," meaning it is not related to the performance of the baseball team.

The report says a University announcement is forthcoming

Cannizaro was hired on November 5, 2016 and led Mississippi State to a 40-27 record and a regional championship.  His team was beaten in the Super Regionals by his former team, LSU, where he worked under Paul Mainieri as an assistant coach.

Pitching coach Gary Henderson will take over as interim coach.
