Things looked bleak for the Boston Red Sox after 7 and a half innings on Sunday night. Trailing the Detroit Tigers 1 game to 0 in the ALCS, and 5-1 in the bottom of the 8th of Game 2, the Red Sox needed a game-changer.

Enter Big Papi. David Ortiz nailed a game-tying grand slam in the 8th inning with 2 outs, capturing all the momentum along with it.

After the Tigers looked so sharp throughout the series, they began to unravel. A wild throw, wild pitch, and missed catch opportunity in the bottom of the 9th set the stage for a walk-off win at Fenway Park.

Jarrod Saltalamacchia hit a game-winning RBI single, elevating Boston to a 6-5 victory, and evening the ALCS at 1 game apiece.

The best-of-seven series now shifts to Motown. Game 3 is set for 7:00 on Tuesday night. Detroit will start 2011 MVP and Cy Young winner Justin Verlander. The Red Sox will throw one-time All-Star John Lackey.
