Alex Cobb delivered a strong start and Tampa Bay scored three times in the third and fourth innings to beat the Cleveland Indians 4-0 in the American League Wild Card game at Progressive Field Wednesday night.

The win sends the Rays to the American League Division Series, where they will face the American League East Champion Boston Red Sox in a best-of-five series.

Cobb worked out of trouble in the middle innings in notching the win, getting Asdrubal Cabrera to hit into a bases loaded double play in the fourth and retired the top three in the order in the fifth after the Indians placed runners on second and third with none out.

Young's homer came leading off the Tampa Bay third, and the Rays added two more runs in the fourth on a two run double by Desmond Jennings with two out. The Rays scored an unearned run in the 9th to close out the scoring.

The bottom two in the Cleveland order, catcher Yan Gomes and third baseman Lonnie Chisenhall combined for five hits, but the top three in the Indians order were a combined 0-12.

Cleveland starter Danny Salazar was charged with the loss after giving up all three runs in four innings of work.
