The season is only one day away, but the preseason accolades just keep coming in for Louisiana's Ragin' Cajuns football program.

In a summer that has been, in terms of national recognition, the best in Ragin' Cajuns football history, add this report from the Wall Street Journal. In what they call "The College Football Grid of Shame," wsj.com ranks all 128 major college football programs throughout the country. The programs are rated from "Embarrassing" to "Admirable" and "Weakling" to "Powerhouse." The Cajuns are rated the most admirable football program in Louisiana. These rankings are based on on-and off-field criteria from wins, losses and preseason rankings, as well as off-season arrests and NCAA violations and probationary records.

If you notice, LSU is ranked the best powerhouse because, well, they have won multiple national titles. And way on the "Weakling" side, but also nearing the admiration ranking of LSU is Louisiana Tech (Louisiana's opponent on September 6). Below La. Tech is ULM and Tulane.

Tomorrow kicks off what many are saying is the most anticipated season in the history of Ragin' Cajuns football. It's a team that brings back 17 starters (9 Offense, 8 Defense) from a 9-4 club who won their third straight New Orleans Bowl in 2013. They open against a Southern team who went 9-4 themselves last season. But this is a Cajuns team that's expected to not only beat the Jaguars and win the Sun Belt Conference this season, but to have a legitimate shot at a double-digit win total this season.

The Cajuns 2014 football schedule features games against two in-state schools (Southern, La. Tech), as well as a conference schedule that gives them an opportunity to avenge losses from last season to ULM and South Alabama and to host last season's co-champions of the Sun Belt, Arkansas State. And, of course, two back-to-back road games against SEC member Ole Miss and Boise State allows them the opportunity to test just how good they are against two big name programs in college football.

Get ready, Cajun fans, because 2014 could be a historic year for the most admired football program in Louisiana.
