The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns football team has officially announced the addition of 5 new players on the 2017 roster, including a graduate transfer, a junior college transfer and 3 freshmen.

Sam Geraci, punter and graduate transfer from the University of Cincinnati, highlights the additions. Joining Geraci (Cincinnati, Ohio) are junior college defensive back Koa Haynes (Covina, Calif.), former Acadiana High product Andre Landry, former Opelousas Catholic product Spencer Gardner, and defensive back Jeremiah West (New Orleans, La./St. Augustine High School).

The 6' 4 230 Geraci, averaged 41.5 yards per punt in three seasons at Cincinnati with 67 punts placed inside the opponent's 20-yard line.

Haynes played at Mt. San Antonio College last season where he was a first-team, All-National Central Division performer. He helped the Mounties to a share of the league title and he recorded 40 tackles, picked off four passes and recovered a pair of fumbles on the season.

The 6'5 250 Landry was a tight end at Acadiana High where he finished as a second team All-District 3-5A pick and was listed as #48 of 50 players on the Nola.com's Nifty 50's list.

The 6'6 270 Gardner was an offensive lineman who was a three-sport athlete. Not only did he play football but he played basketball and baseball as well at Opelousas Catholic High. He was a three-time All-District player in football, an All-District pick in basketball, and a Class 2A All-State selection in baseball.

The 6'1 185 West started his football career as a sophomore in high school at St. Augustine where he was a three-star prospect by both 247Sports.com and Rivals.com.

The Cajuns open up their season at home against the Southeastern Lions on September 2nd, with kickoff set for 6 pm.
