Ragin' Cajun Women's Basketball Head Coach Garry Brodhead added another piece to his squad in the form of former Texas Longhorn Nekia Jones.

Jones, a 5'11" player with a perimeter shot, could add an interesting wrinkle to Brodhead's guard-led squad. With Keke Veal, Kia Wilridge and Jaylyn Gordon hitting shots and creating seams, there could be an obvious place for Jones in the offense if she can pick up the defensive culture quickly. Kevin Foote broke the good news to Cajun Nation this week in The Advertiser.

The former Longhorn made a stop at North Texas after leaving her sophomore season at Texas, where she averaged a little over five points a game in 18 games played. She will join Simone Fields, Breionne Cooper and other young talent in the post, but minutes are earned, not given, under Brodhead.

Brodhead also told foot the Cajuns tried to recruit Jones out of high school, so this isn't a complete surprise by any means.

You don't find 5'11" post players who shoot over 45% from three point land just waiting on the street, so the Ragin' Cajuns will find a place for her in the rotation. It also doesn't hurt she competed in the shot put at the collegiate level too, which adds a little muscle to the team as well.
