ESPN1420 and ESPN1420.com would like to give our heartfelt condolences to the Smith family. A bio about Mr. Smith is written below. Rest in peace Mr. Smith.

Alvin “Frazz” Smith passed away early this morning in the comfort of his home at the age of 87. The founder of Acadiana Bottling Co, he was a respected and beloved member of the local community. He garnered much recognition within the soft drink industry as evidenced by the many awards bestowed upon him and his company by both Pepsi Cola and Dr Pepper.

In addition to his business success, Frazz was deeply involved with so many civic and community organizations throughout the Acadiana area, particularly the University of Louisiana. In fact, if you pay a visit to the Ragin Cajun athletic office, you will enter through the Alvin “Frazz” Smith lobby-dedicated to him for his life-long support of the Ragin Cajuns.

He is survived by his wife Patricia , his four children and numerous grand-children and great grand-children. He will be memorialized on Saturday at First Baptist Church at 2 o’clock. If you wish to stop by and pay your respects, visitation will begin at 10 o’clock, also at First Baptist Church.
