Louisiana Ragin' Cajun pitcher Summer Ellyson is the Sun Belt Conference pitcher of the week.

It's the third time this season she's taken home in the honor, and second time in the last three weeks.

Ellyson, a sophomore who prepped at Teurlings Catholic, was incredible in the circle last weekend.

In a Friday night, 14 inning game against ULM, Ellyson pitched 14 shutout innings, struck out 18 Warhawk batters, tossed 118 strikes on 156 pitches, throwing the equivalent of two complete games in one.

Less than 24 hours later, she helped the Cajuns procure the series sweep by throwing 5 scoreless innings in game 3 of the series.

Yeseterday, Louisiana head coach Gerry Glasco described Ellyson yesterday as "definitely one of the best pitchers in the country".

Other Louisiana Ragin' Cajun softballers who have received Sun Belt Conference Player of the Week honors this season are first baseman Kourtney Gremillion and pitcher Kylee Jo Trahan.

Louisiana hosts the Sun Belt Conference tournament this week. The first game is scheduled for Thursday at 12:30pm, where they'll face either Georgia Southern, South Alabama or Georgia State.
