Ragin’ Cajun LB Otha Peters On 2015 Debut [Video]

The Sun Belt Conference should start familiarizing themselves with Ragin' Cajun Linebacker Otha Peters. He's been waiting to say, "Hello."

After spending time in the SEC with Arkansas, Peters spent a year on the sidelines after transferring to play for Mark Hudspeth and the Cajuns. As Peters puts it, they "took him in" and gave him another shot. Hud played a major part in his decision to choose Cajun country, but there was a friend that drew him too.

"One of my good friends, Al Riles," Peters said. "They were winning and it was closer to home, so that really made me want to be a Ragin' Cajun."

Solid buddies on the squad and a home cooked meal in Covington only a drive away? That was the winning formula for Peters.

He could play a huge part in new Defensive Coordinator Melvin Smith's scheme. Smith admitted two things in his opening press conference: he loves his linebackers, and he wants to play man coverage. Peters' name, along with Darzil Washington and Dominique Tovell's, came up when the issue of playmakers arose. Peters is ready to stand and deliver for his coach.

"Coach Smith lets us fly around to the ball, let's us be man," Peters said. "Since he's given us all that responsibility and all that trust, we should go out there and execute for him."

An entire year away from the bright lights of gameday makes a man hungry. Ragin' Cajun Linebacker Otha Peters is beyond ready to get on the field and prove himself.
