After an oustanding week at the plate, Ragin' Cajun second baseman Jace Conrad was honored by the Louisiana Sports Writers Association (LSWA) today as Hitter Of The Week.

The #2 ranked Cajuns went 4-1 last week, and Conrad shined throughout. In 5 games, Conrad battled an impressive .474, tallying 9 hits and 8 RBI, including 3 doubles, 1 triple, and a grand slam in Sunday's 7-4 win over WKU.

"He's the guy that drives our train and bottom line is, that's what you do," coach Tony Robichaux said on Conrad's play over the weekend. "He plays big in big situations and he's money. If there was anybody we want at the plate in a tough situation, it's Jace because he's tough and he's a gamer."

Conrad currently leads the team in RBI (34), is second in batting average (.349), and first in stolen bases (11). The Lafayette native hates the feeling of defeat, something Coach Robichaux likes to his development.

"He's learning how to channel his hatred of losing and use it better," explained Robichaux. "That's why he's really improved his craft."

Louisiana (26-3) will play host to the Tulane Green Wave (13-13) Tuesday night at M.L. "Tigue" Moore field. Catch all the action on ESPN1420 and ESPN1420.com. Jay Walker has the call, with pregame beginning at 5:30. First pitch is set for 6:00.
