The Houston Astros have been a member of the National League since their first year of play in 1962. Beginning in 2013, they'll play in the American League. Today it was reported that for new Astros owner Jim Crane to purchase the team, he'd be required to move the team to the AL.

Crane will receive a $70 million discount off the $680 million purchase price in exchange for moving the Astros to the AL in 2013.
