The top pitcher remaining on the Major League Baseball free agent market is Japanes right-hander Masahiro Tanaka, who went 24-0, with a 1.27 ERA. last year with the Tohoku Rakuten Golden Eagles of Nippon Professional Baseball.

During his seven professional season in Japan, Tanaka compiled an overall record of 99-35, with a 2.30 ERA.

On Thursday, all 30 MLB teams were notified that the 30-day period to sign the 25-year-old  began, and that they have until Jan. 24 to reach an agreement with Tanaka.
