The New Orleans Pelicans have waived guard Jimmer Fredette, the team announced today.

Fredette, who spent the 2014-15 seasons with New Orleans, was re-signed by the team nine days ago when the NBA granted the team an injury hardship.

An injury hardship is a temporary roster spot that allows a team to go over a maximum of 15 roster spots until a player returns from injury.

New Orleans perimeter playes Tyreke Evans, Norris Cole and Quincy Pondexter haven't played yet this season due to injury.

The 26 year old, 6’2 guard was a superstar in college at BYU as a prominent scorer. His skills haven’t translated as well to the NBA since being drafted 10th overall by the Sacramento Kings in the 2011 draft.

Before his most recent short contract with the Pelicans, Fredette signed with the D-League Westchester Knicks after they selected him 2nd in the NBADL draft a few weeks ago after being released by the San Antonio Spurs.
