Point guard Nate Wolters signed a 10 day contract with the New Orleans Pelicans, the team announced Wednesday.

Wolters was the 38th overall pick of the 2013 NBA Draft, selected in the second round by the Washington Wizards. Washington then traded his rights to Philadelphia who then traded his rights to the Milwaukee Bucks.

Wolters was waived by the Bucks last Friday, appearing in 69 games with Milwaukee since last season, averaging 6.4 points, 2.9 assists, and 2.4 rebounds a game.

Wolters played collegiately for the South Dakota State Jackrabbits, helping lead his squad to back to back NCAA appearances in 2012 and 2013.

With Jrue Holiday nursing an ankle injury, Wolters was signed to provide depth at the point. However, New Orleans needs an adequate backup at the position. If given an opportunity in the next week, he'll have a chance to impress the Pelicans in hopes of receiving a longer deal.

He did not appear in Wednesday night's win at Detroit.

Holiday remains day to day, with no timetable set for his return.
