The New Orleans Pelicans handled their business Thursday night at home, beating the Detroit Pistons 115-99 behind a dominant performance from star Anthony Davis.

On a day when he wasn't voted an All-Star starter, Davis played like one, scoring 32 points, pulling down 7 rebounds, chipping in 2 assists, 2 blocks and a steal.

"AD is playing at an MVP-type level, and what he does, he opens up the game for everybody," said Pelicans coach Alvin Gentry after the win.

Tyreke Evans added a double-double (22 points, 10 assists), while starters Norris Cole and Omer Asik each finished with 12 points and 8 rebounds.

"We made the extra pass tonight to find the extra guy," said Gentry. "Tyreke was really good and Norris played great in the starting position."

New Orleans cruised from start to finish, scoring a season-high 72 points in the first half.

"It was a really good team win," added Gentry. "It was a total team effort."

The Pelicans (15-27) currently stand 4 games back of 8th place in the Western Conference. With the next 5 games at home, New Orleans has a chance to close the gap over the next week and a half.

Next up, the Pelicans host the Milwaukee Bucks (19-25) on Saturday night. Tip-off from the Smoothie King Center is set for 7:00.
