When the New Orleans Pelicans think it can't get worse than it has this season, it usually does.

New Orleans fell to 1-10 on the season Tuesday night, losing at home to the Denver Nuggets by the score of 115-98.

Already without injured perimeter players Tyreke Evans, Norris Cole, Quincy Pondexter, along with centers Kendrick Perkins and Omer Asik, the Pelicans played without superstar Anthony Davis for the majority of the game after he injured his shoulder six minutes into the game and did not return.

"I don't know what happen to him," said New Orleans head coach Alvin Gentry of Davis' injury immediately following the game. "We'll have all the information that we can later on...I don't know what his status is."

A little over an hour after the game, Andrew Lopez of nola.com tweeted news that Davis would be making the road trip to Oklahoma City with the team tonight.

The Pelicans still have 71 games left this season, but the first three weeks have felt like a nightmare for a team with big expectations after a playoff berth last season, and a new staff led by coach Alvin Gentry this season.

"We're not going to quit. We're not going to stop," said Gentry after the loss. "We're not going to feel sorry for ourselves...unfortunately, it's another loss...but we're not going to give in and have a pity party. We're going to continue to do the best we can."

Instead, injuries, poor ball movement, and defensive breakdowns in the second half of games has them limping to a 1-10 start, they're worst in ten seasons.

Struggling to keep pace with a lack of healthy players, New Orleans kept the game within range, trailing by single digits for large portions. However, Denver's three point shooting, 15 of 30 from beyond the arc, was a dagger the Pelicans couldn't overcome.

"We ran out of gas," explained Gentry. "I thought we played hard. I thought we competed. We played so many strange lineups...all I ask them to do is play hard and the best they can, and I thought we did that tonight."

Ryan Anderson led New Orleans in scoring with 24. Eric Gordon added 19.

Next up, the Pelicans travel to Oklahoma City for a Wednesday night matchup with the Thunder. Tip-off is set for 7:00 with a national television audience tuning in on ESPN.
