The New Orleans Pelicans (19-19) finally defeated an Eastern Conference team on the road, dominating the Pistons in Detroit Wednesday night 105-94.

"We played the right way," said New Orleans coach Monty Williams after the win. "That's the only way I can sum it up. We shared the ball. We defended the ball. We played in transition. A number of our guys were involved."

Without starting point guard Jrue Holiday (ankle), the Pelicans were short handed, but played one of their better offensive games of the season thanks to consistent ball movement.

Superstar Anthony Davis (pictured left) was dominant, scoring 27 points, grabbing 10 boards, blocking 4 shots, and altering several others.

"We were out there playing free, but at the same time playing within the team concept and playing together," said Davis.

Davis and center Omer Asik dominated the glass against the dynamic inside presence of Piston big men Greg Monroe and Andre Drummond, out rebouding the two 23-10. As a team, the Pelicans finished with 47 rebounds, compared to Detroit's 30.

Tyreke Evans started at the point, scoring 18 points, dishing out 9 assists, and grabbing 8 boards. From the jump, Evans was focus on ball movement within the offense.

Eric Gordon added 12 points, while Ryan Anderson scored 17 off the bench.

"That was fun," said Gordon. "Everyone was scoring and everyone was contributing."

Quincy Pondexter made a debut/return for New Orleans Wednesday night. Pondexter spent his rookie season in 2010-2011 with the franchise. It was coach Williams' first season with the club. Pondexter was traded to Memphis the following offseason, spending the next three plus seasons with the Grizzlies before he was traded back to New Orleans a few days ago.

Pondexter made his presence felt, playing 32 minutes on the wing, scoring 9 points on 3 of 4 shooting from beyond the arc, playing solid defense on the perimeter.

New Orleans continues their 5 game road trip Friday with game 3 of the trek, taking on the 76ers in Philadelphia. Tip-off is set for 6:00.
