Pelicans Dominate Warriors in Game Three

The New Orleans Pelicans came home facing an 0-2 defect and protected home court with a dominating victory over the Golden State Warriors, 119-100.

The game started off with an electric atmosphere in the Blender and a little bit of a sloppy start for both teams, turnovers and missed shots. The Warriors started the game 1/7 as Steph Curry was inserted back into the starting lineup. The Pelicans came out focused and the crowd was fueling their fire as they went on a nice 15-2 run to give them a 27-14 lead. New Orleans was able to hang on to a 30-21 lead at the end of the first quarter.

After struggling in the first quarter the Warriors started to heat up, specifically Klay Thompson as he recorded 20 points in the quarter. However, the Pelicans continued to shoot the ball well as they set a franchise record for three pointers made in a half with 10 (10-16). In addition, sharing is caring as they recorded 18 assists in the first half where Rajon Rondo had 10 of them. During the second quarter New Orleans went on a 9-0 run to make the score 55-42 but after that it was four three pointers from Klay and Steph which kept the game close. The Pelicans would hold the lead heading to the half 62-56.

What would happen in the third quarter? Generally, the Warriors come out and dominate the 3rd quarter. On this night, they would not. It would be the Pelicans to own the quarter as they outscored Golden State 30-19. New Orleans would use a 16-2 run during the quarter to put the Warriors in the largest deficit that they've faced in these playoffs at 25. At the end of the third the Pels lead 92-75.

As we rolled onto the 4th quarter the Pelicans would separate themselves from Golden State as they put the finishing touches on a dominating performance from the home team as they win 119-100.

The stars played like stars for New Orleans as Rajon Rondo lead the way by conducting the offense as beautifully as he has all year with a play-off career high 21 assists to go with 10 rebounds and four points. Anthony Davis was a man among boys as he poured in 33 points, grabbed 18 rebounds, and gathering four steals. A former Warrior also came up big off the bench in Ian Clark, he was feeling it in the second half as he chipped in 18 points in 22 minutes.

Everything was working for the Pelicans in this one and they're back in the series. Game Four will come your way on Sunday at 2:30pm.
