The New Orleans Pelicans frontcourt entered training camp as a deep unit. Suddenly, it's looking thin after the team announced starting center Omer Asik will miss three weeks with a right calf strain he suffered in practice yesterday.

Asik's is the second of training camp to the team, and to the frontcourt, as center Alexis Ajinca will miss 4 to 6 weeks of action with a right hamstring strain.

Asik, a 7'0, 255 lb center from Turkey re-signed with the Pelicans in July on a 5 year, $58 million deal.

With Asik and Ajinca on the shelf, the only true center left on the roster is veteran Kendrick Perkins, who is entering his 13th NBA season.

All-Star Anthony Davis can spend time at center with certain lineups.
