New Orleans Pelicans backup center Jahlil Okafor scored 8 points in last night's preseason opener against the Chicago Bulls, but didn't come out of the contest unscathed.

ESPN NBA Insider Adrian Wojnarowski reported Okafor underwent an X-Ray and MRI on his right ankle.

The Pelicans released their game notes for tonight's preseason game against the Hawks.

Okafor is officially listed as OUT with a right ankle sprain.

No timetable for a potential return has been announced, as the grade level for the injury has not been released yet.

Okafor, the third overall pick in the 2015 NBA Draft out of Duke, signed a two-year deal with the Pelicans (team option in 2nd year), speaking openly about his desire to rejuvenate his young career.

Okafor has changed his diet and worked ardently on his jump shot in the offseason.
