New Orleans Pelicans Center Alexis Ajinça underwent successful surgery on his right patellar tendon Wednesday, the team revealed today.

Has he played his last game with the Pelicans?

The 7'2, 29 year old Frenchmen is currently in the third year of a four year, $20.2 million contract with New Orleans.

Alexis Ajinça revealed 10 months ago he was open to a trade if it meant more playing time.

The Pelicans can't trade him until he's been cleared to physically play basketball.

A recovery from right patellar tendor surgery typically ranges from 4 to 6 months.

The odds of him playing this season are extremely slim, meaning a trade in the final year of his contract would most likely result in diminishing returns.

If DeMarcus "Boogie" Cousins re-signs with the franchise next offseason, and both Anthony Davis and Omer Asik currently under contract with the team for lots of money, and young Cheick Diallo signed through 2018-19, it's not unrealistic to believe the Pelicans would like to deal Ajinca to another team before the 2018-19 season.

I believe Ajinça has played his last game in a Pelicans uniform.

Regardless of my opinion, Ajinça plans to play for the franchise again in the future.
