With New Orleans Pelicans point guard Jrue Holiday on a minute restriction, and point guards Tyreke Evans and Norris Cole currently unavailable due to injury, the Pels continue to look for short term answers.

One day after releasing Nate Robinson, New Orleans signed Toney Douglas.

Douglas spent the latter part of last season with the Pelicans, and was on the playoff roster, though he never saw the floor in the first round series loss to the Golden State Warriors.

In 12 on court appearances last season with New Orleans, Douglas averaged 4.3 points and 2.0 assists a game. His primary strength is on the defensive end, where the Pels have struggled mightily in the first two games of the season.

When I interviewed Douglas on my show last April during the Pelicans playoff series, he expressed a desire to remain in New Orleans, complimenting his teammates from last year's group. (listen to full interview here)

New Orleans (0-2) host Golden State (1-0) in a Halloween home opener tomorrow night at the Smoothie King Center. Tip-off is set for 6:30.
