Thirteen hours after the 2016 NBA free agency began madness got underway, the New Orleans Pelicans struck their first deal, agreeing to terms with forward Solomon Hill, according to multiple reports.

His deal is worth $48 million guaranteed over 4 years, with another possible $2 million in incentives, according to multiple reports.

New Orleans is banking on Hill playing as a two-way small forward, moving to the 4 spot if the Pelicans want to play small ball for stretches.

Hill recently turned 25, progressing his game in his first three seasons in the league, all with the Indiana Pacers.

Hill's strengths are his defense and basketball IQ. His weakness has been three point shooting (32.5%) and shaky jump shot.

In order for him to reach his full potential as a Pelican, Hill will need to improve his outside shooting.

However, his energy, basketball smarts and solid defense (particularly on the wing) will be beneficial to the Pelicans.
