Elfrid Payton has finally turned 19 years old.

And, he celebrated his birthday with a performance that has earned him Sun Belt Player of the Week honors.

Payton, a sophomore from Gretna (John Ehret), averaged 27 points, six rebounds, four assists and 2.5 steals in leading the Cajuns to a split of their two games this past weekend.  He shot over 60 percent from the floor and nearly 80 percent from the free throw line.

His 30 point outburst made him the first Cajun to score 30 points in a game since Tyren Johnson did it in the 2009-10 season.

Payton leads the league in assists and steals, is fourth in scoring and in the top 15 in rebounding.
