New England Patriot fans at Gillette Stadium were livid on Sunday while attending the game against the Houston Texans.

While watching the contest in 90 degree temperatures, they fled to vendors for water. There's just one problem.

Bottled water was gone by the second quarter. While concession stands waited for reinforcements, they began charging fans $4.50 for tap water.

Fans expressed their anger on social media.

Today, the Patriots issued the following apology, through team spokesman Stacey James.

“We apologize. That should not have happened. It is the first time that I have ever heard that complaint here. We are looking into the matter to ensure that it doesn’t happen again.”

The NFL has found creative ways to make a ton of money. Selling tap water during one of the hottest games of the season is a new one.
