NFL 2011 Season – Week 17 Recap

The Giants beat the Cowboys to win the NFC East, while the Bengals and Broncos lost, but received help from other teams to slip into the last remaining AFC playoff spots. The playoffs are scheduled to begin next Saturday, when Cincinnati travels to Houston and New Orleans hosts Detroit. On Sunday, Atlanta travels to New York, while Denver hosts Pittsburgh. Lots Of Positives In Saints’ Win Over Vikings

There were a number of positives about the New Orleans Saints' 42-20 victory over the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday.

The win was the sixth-straight for the Saints, and clinched them a playoff berth, as their record improved to 11-3.

Quarterback Drew Brees threw for 412 yards, along with five touchdowns, marking the 41st-consecutive game he has thrown for a score.

Brees now has 4,780 passing yards on the year, and needs only 304 passing yards over the final two games to break Dan Marino's single-season record.

Marques Colston and Jimmy Graham combined for 17 catches, and 161 yards.

The New Orleans defense held the Vkings to 207 yards of total offense.

The Saints also remian in the hunt for the number two seed in the NFC playoffs.

New Orleans Saints Wednesday Injury Report

Three New Orleans Saints missed practice Wednesday, while one other was limited. Despite a back injury, tight end Jimmy Graham practice fully, as did three other starters who are battling injuries.

Saints Send Message With Dominating Win Over Giants

To say that the New Orleans Saints' 49-24 victory over the New York Giants on Monday night was an impressive one would be an understatement.

The win may have been the most complete one for the Saints this year.

Quarterback Drew Brees passed for 363 yards, and four touchdowns.

Saints running backs rushed for over 200 yards.

There were seven players that caught at least two passes.

Defensively, yes, they did allow 465 yards to the Giants, but that allowed only one touchdown in the first three quarters.

And once again, the Saints were dominant in their own building.
