Hornets Win Playoff Opener

The Hornets defeated the Lakers in L.A. Sunday 109-100. With the win, New Orleans takes an early 1-0 lead in the best of seven playoff series. Two-time all-star David West has spent his entire 8 year career with the New Orleans Hornets. Whether or not the power forward will remain in NOLA next year is uncertain. He can opt out of his contract after this season, and I suspect he will. As a matter of fact, you can count on it.

The Hornets David West and Emeka Okafor are left off the all-star team, as is Minnesota Timberwolves Forward Kevin Love. Clippers PF Blake Griffin is the only rookie selected to the all-star team.

All in all, the Hornets played well on the West Coast Friday night. In the end, it wasn't enough. The Lakers beat the Hornets 101-97. David West scored 23 and pulled down 12 boards.
