Beyond The Mic: Hornets Dissed By National TV

Despite being in a nasty labor dispute, the NBA released the 2011-2012 regular season schedule yesterday. If a season is played, the Hornets will only appear on national television twice. That's pretty insulting considering New Orleans was a playoff team a year ago, and still possess one of the league's biggest superstars in Chris Paul. The Atlanta Hawks had less wins than the Hornets a year ago, but are scheduled for 8 national TV appearances. Oh well, there probably won't be a season anyway.

There were no big surprises in the NBA draft last night. As many mock drafts predicted, Duke guard Kyrie Irving went first overall to the Cleveland Cavaliers. Arizona PF Derrick Williams was the next selection, taken by the Minnesota Timberwolves. The Hornets, without a first round selection, used their lone draft pick in the second round on Kentucky Center Josh Harrellson, then traded him to the New York Knicks for cash considerations.

New Orleans lost their fourth consecutive game Wednesday night, their longest losing streak of the season. The Hornets were up by 5 with 45 seconds in regulation, but let the game slip into overtime. Chris Paul's three point shot rimmed out at the end of overtime, and the Nets beat the Hornets 103-101.
