The Alabama Crimson Tide won their second national championship in the last three years, defeating the LSU Tigers, 21-0, in the BCS title game, on Monday night, at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome, in New Orleans.
LSU Tiger cornerbacks Tyrann Mathieu and Morris Claiborne both received first-team AP All-American honors, marking the first time two CBs from the same school shared first-team honors. Punter Brad Wing made first-team as well, with guard Will Blackwell was named to the second-team. Defensive End Sam Montgomery earned third-team honors.
As college football’s regular season nears its end, the postseason picture is starting to take shape. Barring a major shakeup in the polls, Alabama punched its ticket to the national title game. The only thing that remains to be seen is if they’ll have another shot at top-ranked LSU. Next week’s conference championship games could shake up the BCS, while the Bedlam rivalry between Oklahoma and Oklahoma State will determine the Big 12 title and a spot in the Fiesta Bowl. Here are all the highlights from this week in the AP Top 25.
