Pete Carmichael May Be A Candidate For Head Coaching Jobs

Anytime an NFL team has success, people in their organization will be in demand.

That's certainly the case with the New Orleans Saints, who won the Super Bowl in 2009, made the playoffs last year, and are currently in first-place in the NFC South.

Defensive coordinator Gregg Williams, who has already been a head ocach in the league, received some attention about head coaching opening last year, and now offensive coordinator Pete Carmichael has reportedly been generating some talk.

Again. this should come as no surprise to anyone. Carmichael is a solid coach, who's been part of a winning franchise.

It would be a surprise if his name wasn't bandied about.

Saints Hoping To Improve Red Zone Defense

Obviously, the New Orleans Saints have a number of strengths.

We are, after all, talking about a team that's currently in sole-possession of first-place in the NFC South, with a 6-3 record.

Red-zone defense, however, is not one of those strengths.

That's quite a difference from the Saints' Super Bowl Championship team of 2009, when they led the league in red-zone defense.

How are they working to improve in that area?

Jonathan Vilma Respected By Everyone

But Vilma's worth doesn't rest with numbers, alone.

Saints Defense Has Not Forgotten Playoff Loss

The 2010 season ended like a nightmare for the Saints defense. Actually, it was worse than a nightmare, because Marshawn Lynch's game winning TD run in the Seahawks playoff upset wasn't a dream. Gregg Williams and the Saints defense couldn't pinch themselves to wake-up. The bad taste of defeat is still in their mouths, and Williams won't let them wash it out yet.

5 Reasons The New Orleans Saints Get Back to the Super Bowl in 2011

The 2011 NFL lockout has already made the 2011 NFL season interesting and no one has even played a regular game yet. Because of the lockout restricting all NFL business for the majority of the offseason, teams have only had a few weeks to take care of things that are normally spread out over the course of a few months. Trades, signings and moves are being made at a frantic pace that can almost be compared to kids picking teams on a playground. Teams like Philly are already calling themselves the "Dream Team." Some teams have turmoil and conflict from within the organization and the huddle, and seemingly through this NFL gumbo of excitement and drama, the New Orleans Saints are comfortably flying under the radar as they approach a 2011 season that according to BleacherReport, can easily see the Black & Gold back in the Super Bowl.
