Major League Baseball handed out its 2013 Most Valuable Player awards on Thursday, with Detroit Tigers third baseman Miguel Cabrera winning for the second-consecutive year in the American League, and Pittsburgh Pirates outfielder Andrew McCutchen capturing the honor in the National League.
Major League Baseball named it's 2013 Cy young Award winners on Wednesday, with Clayton Kershawn of the Los Angeles Dodgers winning in the National League, while Max Scherzer of the Detroit Tigers took home the honor in the National League.
The Tigers advanced Thursday to join the Red Sox, Dodgers and Cardinals in the field for Major League Baseball's 2013 League Championship Series. Here's a preview of the next round of the baseball playoffs in the National and American leagues:
