One could certainly call the state of Alabama a "football state", and wouldn't get a single argument.

The state of Alabama boasts the last two college football national champions, in the Alabama Crimson Tide, and the Auburn Tigers.

The two universities also play in one of the most heated rivalries in the sport, the "Iron Bowl", every year.

Auburn’s Chizik Getting 1.3 Million More in Salary

Winning the BCS National Championship is paying off for Auburn Coach Gene Chizik in a big way.

Chizik is getting a 1.3 million dollar salary bump.  He'll now have a salary of 3.5 million, which will make him the fourth-highest paid coach in the Southeastern Conference
