Last week was the final bye week of the 2011 NFL season. All of the teams have now played 10 games of the 16-game season. Six teams got an early start on the playoff push with Thanksgiving Day games, the rest play Sunday and Monday
The Green Bay Packers and San Francisco 49ers continued their fantastic seasons, while the Baltimore Ravens moved into first place in the AFC North. Meanwhile, several other teams continued win streaks
The best teams in the league are already eyeing first-round playoff byes as the NFL schedule moves into its stretch run. Here’s a preview of the games scheduled for Week 11:
Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Green Bay Packers – 1:00 PM
San Francisco 27 – N.Y. Giants 20
Defensive end Justin Smith swatted down an Eli Manning pass to end a potential game-tying drive, as the San Francisco 49ers beat the New York Giants 27-20. Kicker David Akers had four field goals for San Francisco (8-1), which found enough offense to win despite playing most of the game without leading rusher Frank Gore, who suffered a knee injury
Early routs and late thrillers filled the NFL schedule for Week 9. Here’s a recap of all of the NFL action from Sunday:
N.Y. Giants 24 – New England 20
Eli Manning capped a game-winning, 80-yard drive with a 1-yard touchdown pass to Jake Ballard with 15 seconds remaining, and the New York Giants defeated the New England Patriots, 24-20
Indianapolis Colts injured quarterback Peyton Manning said yesterday that if feasible, he would like to play this season. The problem with that is Manning's injured neck has been slow to heal. "Still waiting for the fusion to take place," explained the frustrated 4-time MVP. The more time that passes, the more questions arise about Manning's future in Indianapolis.
Two head coaches fought, while another was injured during a game, as week six of the 2011 NFL season left just the defending Super Bowl champion Green Bay Packers as the lone unbeaten team in the league.
