LSU To Face Alabama For National Championship

When LSU defeated Alabama in Tuscaloosa back on November 5th, they figured they wouldn't see the Tide again until the 2012 season. Most in America felt the same way at the time. But one month later, LSU is preparing for a rematch with Alabama...in the BCS National Championship.

LSU Downs Alabama In OT, 9-6

It was touted as the "Game of the Century". And while that's a pretty big billing to live up to, the match-up between the top-ranked LSU Tigers and the second-ranked Alabama Crimson Tide is one that college football fans will be talking about for many years to come.

LSU kicker Drew Alleman nailed a 25-yard field goal in the first possession of overtime to lift the Tigers to a 9-6 victory over Alabama, at Bryant-Denny Stadium, in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, on Saturday night.

Alleman accounted for all of the LSU points, connecting on field goals of 19, and 30 yards in regulation.

Alabama got two field goals themselves, a 34-yarder from Jeremy Shelley, and a 46-yarder from Cade Foster.

The difference though were the four field goals the Crimson Tide didn't make, which included a 52-yard miss by Foster in the overtime period.

Each team was held to under 300 of total offense in the game, which went without a single touchdown being scored.

Alabama accumulated 295 total, compared to 234 for LSU.

The Tigers were led offensively by running back Michael Ford, who was able to pick up 72 yards on 11 carries.

With the win, LSU remains unbeaten on the year.

The Tigers are now 9-0 overall, and 6-0 in SEC play, while Alabama falls to 8-1 overall, and 5-1 in league play.
