Players and fans of the Kansas City Royals, who haven't made the playoffs since winning the World Series back in 1985, are anxiously awaiting the start of the 2014 Major League Baseball season, if it is still about two-and-a-half months away.

After going 39-42 over the first half of the 2013 season, the Royals went 47-34 in the second half, including 43-26 over their final 69 games to finish 86-76, their first winning season since 1994, and their best record since 1989.

Royals broadcaster Joel Goldberg talks about the 2013 season, and the optimism that surrounds the team in the offseason.
