One Man Dead After Shooting In Crowley

Investigators with the Acadia Parish Sheriff’s Office are looking into a shooting that took place in the 500 block of Conrad Road near Crowley.

Acadia Parish Sheriff Wayne Melancon says deputies went to the scene around 6:49 p.m.

When they got there, deputies learned that 32-year-old Edgar Eugene Belveal drove to the home to speak with 50 year old Henry Lawrence Leger of Crowley.

Deputies say during the conversation, some sort of a disturbance started, and Leger shot and fatally wounded the victim, whose name is being withheld pending notification of family members.

Leger was taken into custody without incident.

He is being charged with 2nd Degree Murder.

Leger has been placed in the Acadia Parish Jail with bond set at $250,000.
