The second of the Louisiana Cajuns' signees drafted by Major League Baseball is saying thanks but no thanks to professional baseball for now.

Catcher Handsome Monica, a Mandeville native who originally began his career at the University of Arizona, says he will honor his commitment to play for the Ragin' Cajuns.

He made his announcement via Twitter Friday afternoon:

Thanks Atlanta Braves for the opportunity you've given me, but I will be attending UL for my junior year

Monica is projected to be a middle of the lineup hitter for the Cajuns, who lost starting catcher Nick Thurman to graduation.  Thurman signed a free agent contract with the Seattle Mariners.
Monica, who was drafted in the 33rd round by the Braves, joins OF Todd Lott, a 20th round choice of the Cincinnati Reds, to turn down the pros in order to play for Tony Robichaux's club.
