The Oakland Coliseum is home of the Raiders, the A's, the Black Hole, rude sports fans, and a plethora of history. It's now set to have a ridiculous new name.  It will soon  be renamed the overstock.com coliseum. Here is more from Paul T. Rosynsky of the Oakland  Tribune and costaricatimes.com.

The Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum will be renamed Overstock.com Coliseum under a deal that could earn the government about $1.2 million a year for the next six years.

The Oakland-Alameda Coliseum Authority that runs Oakland's professional sports complex is expected to approve the naming rights deal Wednesday morning, giving the 47-year-old stadium its fourth name.

The authority has been looking for a new corporate sponsor for the stadium since 2008, when McAfee Inc., a maker of computer virus software, declined to extend its yearly $1.3 million naming rights deal.

Oakland coliseum to change name

Overweight.com would have worked better during the JaMarcus Russell tenure. But seriously, overstock.com? How ridiculous is that? I'm sure Raider fans in the blackhole love the idea of playing in a "website." Nothing strikes fear in the opponent more than surfing the net for great deals on garden equipment.
