A number of Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns did well in the team's first scrimmage of the fall, which took place last Saturday.

Offensively, two Cajuns hit home runs in the 8-inning intrasquad scrimmage, while five had a multi-hit game.

In the circle, a newcomer showed some possible flashes of good things to come.

Newcomer Bailey Curry made a strong initial impression, hitting a long home run, one of two by UL hitters on the day.

That's good news, as Bailey is expected to add some pop to a Louisiana team, which homered only 23 times last season.

A native of Frankfort, Kentucky, Curry hit a .362 as a freshman for Toledo last season, to go along with 14 home runs and 46 runs batted in.

Curry just missed another homer later, with a shot off the top of the fence, as she finished 2-for-3 on the afternoon.

Sophomore Carrie Boswell hit the other homer in the contest, while also tossing 4 innings in the circle.

Junior shortstop Alissa Dalton had a nice game, collecting two hits, both doubles, while also scoring twice.

Sophomore Aeriyl Mass, along with transfers Kendall Talley (Lamar) and Julie Rawls (Northwestern St.) all collected two hits apiece, while Rawls was the lone UL hitter to drive in more than one run on the afternoon.

In the circle, Kandra Lamb, a freshman from Australia, tossed 2.2 innings of shutout softball, while Summer Ellyson, Case Dixon, Alison Deville, and Boswell all saw time as well.

Louisiana, who had a another scheduled scrimmage rained out on Sunday, is slated to scrimmage on Wednesday afternoon at 3 pm at Lamson Park.

The Cajuns who went 41-16 last season, open their fall schedule on Saturday, hosting Chipola (Florida) JC at noon at Lamson Park.
