Northwestern University’s team name may be the Wildcats, but for one weekend this football season the school will be patriots.
The football team will put its regular purple and white colors on the shelf to wear specially-designed red, white and blue uniforms for its November 16 battle against Michigan. The uniforms, which are designed by Under Armour, are part of an effort to increase awareness for the Wounded Warrior Project.
Names will also be scrapped on the back of the jerseys in lieu of one of seven words, including duty, honor, courage, commitment, integrity, country or service.
It seems like Northwestern is firing a shot at Oregon, which reigns supreme as the football team with the most outrageous uniforms.
If you’re really inspired by Northwestern’s choice of attire, you can buy your own, with a portion of the proceeds going to the Wounded Warrior Project.
