It was billed as a pitchers' duel between two of the nation's best and it lived up to the billing.

But in the end, it was LSU Sophomore Aaron Nola who stole the show.

Nola pitched a two hit shutout to lead the Tigers to a 2-0 win over Oklahoma in the first game of their best of three super regional at Alex Box Stadium/Skip Bertman Field Friday night.

Nola (12-0) didn't walk a batter and struck out six in a complete game, 102 pitch performance.  He allowed only three baserunners.  He hit Matt Oberste with a pitch to lead off the second and promptly picked him off.  Oberste led off the fifth with a double and was bunted to third by Hector Lorenzana.  But Nola struck out Anthony Hermelyn and got Colt Bickerstaff on a grounder to second to end Oklahoma's only threat.

The only other Sooner baserunner was Bickerstaff, who single with two out in the eighth.

Meanwhile, OU's Jonathan Gray (10-3) matched Nola until the bottom of the eighth when JaCoby Jones tripled in the gap in right center.  Tyler Moore, batting for Andrew Stevenson then doubled to score Jones, and Mark Laird delivered pinch runner Jared Foster with a base hit to end the scoring.

Gray pitched 7.1 innings and allowed six hits.  He walked two and struck out nine, throwing 118 pitches.

The Tigers will try to get a sweep of the series and a trip to the College World Series tomorrow night at 6pm.
