The New York Yankees retired the number (6) of former manager Joe Torre on Saturday, prior to a game against the Chicago White Sox at Yankee Stadium.

Torre managed the Yankees from 1996-2007, compiling an overall record of 1,173-776, including five American League pennants and three World Series titles.

Torre also managed the New York Mets, Atlanta Braves, St. Louis Cardinals, and Los Angeles Dodgers during his career, in which he accumulated 2,326 wins.

The Yankees now have 19 retired numbers, which is the most in Major League Baseball, and once Derek's Jeter's number (2) is retired in the future, there will be no single-digit numbers available.
