The New Orleans Saints trimmed their roster down to 75 today, parting ways with a few familiar names, according to multiple reports.

Word began to spread last night of a few cuts, including linebacker Victor Butler. WWL's Kristian Garic reported Butler's release, citing sources.

Butler was a free agent signing last year and was expected by many to start at linebacker. However, he tore his ACL in a minicamp back in June of 2013, missing the entire season. Hoping to bounce back this year, Butler has dealt with several undisclosed injuries that kept him off the practice field for a portion of training camp. His release saves the team $1.5 million.

Wide receiver Andy Tanner (pictured), who has been a "bubble guy" for the last few offseasons, was not cut, but was placed on injured reserve. Tanner worked hard to earn an opening day roster spot a season ago. He was waived and signed to the practice squad before Week 2 however, as the Saints brought back veteran Robert Meachem who had been released by the San Diego Chargers. He'll likely take another stab at making the 53 man regular season roster next season.

Other players placed on IR include safety Ty Zimmerman and OT Ty Nsekha.

Releases include T/G Manase Foket, TE Travis Beckum, DE George Uko, CB Rod Sweeting, LB Kevin Reddick, QB Logan Kilgore, and DE Rufus Johnson.
