Jonathon Amaya (pictured left) was acquired a season ago from the Miami Dolphins in a trade involving Reggie Bush. Saturday he was let go by the Saints for a player named Bush. New Orleans claimed strong safety Rafael Bush today off waivers from the Denver Broncos.

Bush comes to the Saints as Roman Harper's primary backup. A season ago, Rafael had 3 tackles and saw action in 6 games for Denver. He also joins Malcolm Jenkins and Isa Abdul-Quddus to make up the 4 safety spots on the New Orleans 53 man roster.

For Amaya, he came to the Saints with a reputation of being a solid contributor on special teams. Defensive Coordinator Steve Spagnuolo noted that their was competition for a roster spot at Safety. Amaya wasn't able to make a strong enough impression as a SS or a special teamer to secure his roster spot.
