Former Louisiana Ragin' Cajun softball player Nerissa Myers was named the National Pro Fastpitch Offensive Player of the Year on Tuesday night.

A native of Petal, Mississippi, Myers played shortstop for Louisiana from 2013-2013, earning All-Sun Belt First Team honors in 2012 and 2013, as well as Third Team All-American honors in 2012.

While at Louisiana, Myers set the all-time record with 243 runs scored over her career. In 2012, she led the nation with 83 runs, breaking the SBC record and her own from 2011.

After signing with the Chicago Bandits in June 2013, Myers joined the Akron Racers this season, and led the league in RBI's (43) and slugging percentage (.599), while finishing fourth in batting average (.365), while only accumulating nine home runs, five doubles, six stolen bases, and a .474 on base percentage.

Myers was also one of 19 players to be named to the All-NPF team.
