The technological age has some to NCAA Softball.

Beginning next year, teams will be allowed to use in game use of video between innings as long as the video equipment is not brought on to the field during an inning and the technology is not used to question umpires' calls.

In fact, questioning umpires is going to be a point of emphasis.  Any coach who questions balls and strikes or any other judgment call will be warned...then ejected.

Many of the other changes have to do with equipment and safety in the dugouts.  But there are a couple of changes fans may notice:

There will no longer be a "runner's lane" marked between home plate and first base.

Batters who are hit by a pitch while out of the front of the batter's box will not be awarded first base; it will be ruled a "no pitch."

And, a defensive player may not block the base without the ball or making a play on the ball.
