NCAA Approves 35 Yard Line Kickoffs
The NCAA is following the lead of the NFL and moving kickoffs to the 25-yard line, effective this season.
Studies have shown the highest percentage of injuries in football are on special teams. This rule is designed to provide more touchbacks.
In addition, the organization moved the starting position after a touchback to the 25 yard line, hoping to provide even more touchbacks.
The running start by players on the kickoff team will now be limited to five yards.
